About Sensei Chambers

Sensei Brandon Chambers is the Owner and Head Instructor of Tiger Den Dojo and the Founder of Shoukendou Karate. He began learning karate in 2003 and began teaching in 2007. He earned his first two Black Belts (in Karate Shin-Toshi and Taekwondo Moo Duk Kwan) at the age of fourteen in 2010. In 2019, he was promoted to 2nd Degree in Tan Ren Do Karate. In early 2023, he began working with some of his peers and long-time students (Henry Spackman, Mike Andelin, Noah Andelin) to create the curriculum for Shoukendou Karate. Sensei Chambers selected the name Shoukendou because it means, “Way of the Honorable Fist.” When he isn’t teaching karate, he can often be found writing books.

Instructor of the Year 2024: McKell allred

Sensei Allred has been an absolute rock to this dojo. Convincing her to come out of martial arts hibernation was one of the smartest things I (Sensei Chambers) did all year.
Sensei Allred and I both began training together at the same dojo a little over 20 years ago. We played leapfrog as we went up the ranks, sometimes with her ahead of me, and vice-versa. She left our former dojo while I was on a hibernation of my own, and she remained away for about a decade.
Sensei Allred helped out with adult classes when we had students in the park, and I was extremely impressed with how little she’d lost in her years away from karate. She was quick to pick up on the changes between our old style and ShouKenDou. She joined me at a State-level tournament in the summer and helped run the tournament held in August.
When we had to leave the park and find a physical location, Sensei Allred was on the ball. She was searching nearly as much as I was, and even found one or two of the options we were seriously considering. With every location we considered, Sensei Allred was there, inspecting the space and voicing her valued opinions.
Sensei Allred has continued to help to the best of her abilities as she became pregnant with twins. Since making that discovery, she has continued to help with Evaluations, ran a Free Women’s Self-Defense Seminar, and helped me teach Community Classes at Springville High School.

Student of the year 2024: Eric Barlow

We chose Eric as our Student of the Year because of his consistent effort ever since he joined us in May. Eric has a knack for teaching, a distinct desire to help others, and pushes himself regularly. He also clocked more hours of karate in 2024 than any other student at Tiger Den Dojo.

Instructor of the Year 2023: Henry Spackman

We’re proud to announce Sensei Henry Spackman as our 2023 Instructor of the Year! Sensei Spackman had an extremely packed year working multiple jobs and attending college, but he still somehow made the time to come to as many classes as possible. Sensei Spackman was absolutely essential in creating the curriculum for Shoukendou in 2023. His positive attitude, dependability, initiative, communication skills, and broad knowledge base all made him the clear choice to win this award. We honor him. We respect him. We’re grateful for him. We’re proud of him. Sensei Henry Spackman is a prime example of what we expect from somebody who teaches The Way of the Honorable Fist.
